I've already spoken a lot about the computer security, I know this is the topic in which you can speak as much as you want and still that will be less. Anyway, I've recently come across a new software which takes your computer security to 1 step ahead, you can easily forget about spywares, viruses & all other stuff and keep on doing your tasks without fear and all this can be achieved in less than 311 kb! Well, to be exact it is of around 310 KB
Anyway, the software I am talking about is SandboxIE. This software is available only for windows 2000 & above.
What exactly it does?
Well, Sandboxie creates a virtual environment in your computer and lets you run the softwares in that particular virtualized environment. It basically works changes the way programs access the harddisk; Programs run through the read operation and then when they send the information or store any information, they use the write operation and write on the harddisk. But what sandboxie does is that it creates a layer in between, which allows users to actually read from the harddisk but writes in that sandbox environment.

And if we take the example of the author of SandboxIe then, to see it work in action, simply follow these steps :1. Run sandboxie (virtual environment creator)2. Open Default browser.3. Bookmark any website.4. Open Default browser from normal windows.5. Check for the new bookmark.Well, if you do things correctly, you will not find the new bookmark at all!There are some other simple things which you can do to check whether it works or not!Anyway, now how can it be used to secure the computer?Well, after we've read the way it works, I think it will be fairly simple to judge on how exactly it works but still I'll explain you how exactly it will make your computer safe on the web!As, explained above that it will use the write operation in the sandboxed environment and if we work on this strategy, so when we launch our browser and surf and download any software on the internet, it will be all in that sandboxed environment and thus if we install any program (which can be potentially a virus or spyware) and if we see that it starts to create a problem we can simply close the SandboxIE and it will be away from our computer and without infecting it.How safe is Sandboxie?Well, there are some security testers who already have run various tests and found out that it provided them the full protection. There are some who downloaded 50 MB of viruses, trojans and all bad stuff from the internet and when they stopped Sandboxie it was all gone!Great! So do I stop using Anti-virus, anti-spyware softwares?Well, to be honest! There is no program which can provide you the 100% security on the internet. Things can be recovered from the various sources, a person will always leave tracks on the internet but that is a very little information and not all people can reach that kind of information. Basically, I am talking about the Internet Service Provider, who can easily reach to some of your internet surfing habits (Don't be paranoid, no one has time to check in your internet service provider company, to especially check your surfing habits :) )Well, coming back to the point..as I said that there is no program which can provide you with the complete security, SO, I'll always advice you to have the antivirus, anti-trojan, anti-spyware & all those ANTI products which can help you keep your computer safe. However, sandboxie gives you that extra layer of protection and which certainly improves the security!Does it effect my privacy?The answer is YES. It certainly effects your Privacy and that is for your good only! It actually removes the traces of surfing and that gives you another protection but remember what I said earlier that ISPs can reach to your surfing habits but well, who has got time :PWell, to actually know more about Sandboxie, I'll suggest you to use it and use it regularly.
